Safe return of play

Dear [[firstname]]

It's the news we have been waiting for - Monday 19th July will see an end to almost all COVID-19 restrictions in England which affects how squash, badminton, clubs/venues and coaches should continue to operate.

What this Means.

All current restrictions for squash and badminton will be lifted from Monday 19th July, including how many people can mix inside venues.

Whilst this is great from a sports point of view, cases of COVID-19 remain high and continue to rise. The government have stressed that we all must take personal responsibility to take steps to mange and reduce the risk of transmission when returning to more daily activities like squash or badminton.

Play Safe, Stay Safe

While we're all excited to get back on court without any restrictions, we also need to ensure we all stay safe. In line with UK Government guidance, we are encouraging players to consider the health and safety of themselves and fellow members. We recommend the following:

  • wear a face covering when inside the club/venue mixing with others you do not usually mix with (except when playing)
  • use hand sanitiser provided and wash your hands before and after any game / session.
  • DO NOT Wipe your hands on the wall.
  • Clean touch points after every session with the antibacterial wipes/spray provided.

Club Survey and Feedback.

It is fantastic to see so many members venturing back and supporting the club, however some may prefer that we as a club continue to take a cautious approach and respect peoples wishes. With this latest guidance we have the option to open the courts up fully once again or continue to take a more cautious approach. This is where we want your feedback to decide the next steps for Burton Manor in regards to court availabilty.

  • OPTION 1 - We continue as we are with the staggered court times, 40 minute sessions with 20 minutes between bookings. This gives the air chance to settle and limits the amount of members in the changing facilities at one time. Staggered showers open as they are at present. Review every 6 weeks.
  • OPTION 2 - We open the courts up fully offering 40 minute sessions back to back with staggered showers open as they are at present.

I propose we leave the current setup until the end of July until we recieve your valued feedback. If you can email me your thoughts to shaun@staffordengineering.co.uk we can then decide what is the next steps to ensure everone feels safe and happy to play. If you wish to discuss this with me or any concerns you may have then please feel free to call me 07812 056718. If you can get back to me by close of play Monday 26th July we can then look at implementing your choice.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Regards

Shaun Watkin
