Return of Racket Sports at BMSA

Good afternoon all,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Following my email last week I am delighted to announce that BMSA will open its doors once again to racket sports. Unfortunately as we are in Tier 3 there are some changes from the last time that you played. I have attached a copy of the ways that we can play depending on what Tier we are in. In line with Government guidance as a Club we are having to unfortunately offer reduced opening hours to help control the possible spread of Covid19.

Club opening times will be Mon - Sun 12.00pm - 7.00pm. Note last available court will be 6.20 pm for Squash and 6.00pm for Badminton.

Below are a list of Guidelines that all Members need to adhere to. Anyone found breaking these rules put the club at risk of sanctions from the authorities. All bookings will be closely monitored to ensure staff and member safety. Any member found breaking these rules will face penalties from the club.

  • Please note that you are booking for 40 minute slots and MUST be off court promptly to allow the air to circulate prior to the next session. Applies to Squash only. 1hr Booking slots for Badminton Only. MEMBERS MUST PLAY FOR THE ALLOCATED BOOKING TIME SLOTS ONLY. Any overrun will NOT BE Tolerated . Session times will be monitored closely.
  • All sessions MUST be booked using the MyCourts system.
  • All sessions MUST have players names on the booking sheets at all times for Track and Trace purposes. If you are doing Solo Practice please ensure that you select this from the dropdown box provided on the booking system. No booking = NO PLAY = NO EXCEPTIONS
  • No Non Members allowed.
  • Members to arrive 5 Minutes before pre-booked session times. Entering the building and leave promptly after your session following the one way systems in place.
  • Players to arrive in their own kit and ready to play. Changing rooms for change of footwear / training tops only. ONLY 2 PERSONS ALLOWED IN AT ANY ONE TIME.
  • Players to bring own water bottle. Changing room sink / tap usage for refreshment IS NOT PERMITTED.
  • Members to bring their own First Aid Kit
  • Members to sanitize their hands on entering the Foyer and before entering / leaving the court area.
  • At the end of every session it is the member’s responsibility to clean Touch Points with the Alcohol Wipes / Antibacterial Spray and wiped with the paper towelling provided. Please ensure all paper towels and wipes are properly disposed of in the bins provided.
  • Members always keep socially distanced from all other members except from same household.
  • Spectators only allowed as part of an organised coaching session or supervision of children under the age of 18. Only 1 parent or Guardian allowed per player.

All of the facilities will be cleaned and sanitised daily by Staff at the end of the days session in line with government guideline’s.

Posters have been placed for all members to observe safe ways to play. Please ensure that you have read and understand the latest guidance. There will be hard copies of the forms left in the foyer and a digital copy is attached for you to sign and return on your second visit to the club. This needs signing to say that you have fully understood the latest set of guidance and will adhere to the rules that are currently in place. If a copy of this form isn't returned by the 2nd booking then the club reserve the right to cancel your sessions.

I understand that this is a frustrating time. All we want to do is play and enjoy the sports we love. If we can all play by these rules and ensure safety of all others the quicker we can return to the norm as we once knew our sports.

I look forward to seeing you all on court or participating in our coaching programs.

Any queries please feel free to contact me.

Regards

Shaun Watkin
